The Importance of Displaying Your Company Name

The Importance of Displaying Your Company Name

In order to comply with the rules under the Companies Act 2006, there is a lot to think about when forming a limited company.

One obligation is that your company must affix or paint its name on the outside of its registered office and every office, factory or place in which its business is carried out.

Where Must Your Company Name be Displayed?

  • You must display a sign showing your company name at your registered company address and wherever your business operates.
  • If you’re running your business from home and that is not your registered business address, then you do not need to display a sign there.
  • If your business is registered elsewhere, such as your accountant’s address, or a serviced office, then you do not have to display the company name at your home if you also carry out business there.
  • If you have registered your company at your residential address, then you must still display the company name at that address.
  • The sign outside your business must be clear and easy to read as well as being positioned so that any visitor on the company premises could see it. Further, it must always be visible, not just when you are open.

Interesting Fact?

You must display your name continuously at your business premises, unless you share the premises with six or more registered companies. In that case, the registered name of each company must be kept on a register and be available for inspection as requested.

Now for the interesting fact – alongside being displayed on a register, each company should display its registered name once every three minutes for at least 15 seconds.
