Under new regulations from November 2025, all Directors and/or PSC’s are required to verify their identity with Companies House. As an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP), Paramount Company Formations can complete this process on your behalf.

To support this, we have partnered with SmartSearch, a secure electronic identity verification provider.

How do I complete the Identity Verification process?

After placing your order, you will receive an email  requesting your ID and details needed from us. Individuals with UK identity documents, the following items may be used:

Identity Documents

  • Passport
  • Driving Licence
  • ID Card / Residence Permit

Proof of Address

  • Utility Bill (e.g., gas or electricity) dated within the last 3 months
  • Bank or Credit Card Statement dated within the last 3 months
  • Driving Licence (if not already used as your identity document)

Once SmartSearch completes your verification, Paramount Company Formations will submit your identity for final verification with Companies House.

What happens after my identity has been verified with Companies House?

You will receive an email directly from Companies House that contains your unique 11 digit identification number.

This number is required when:

  • Registering a new UK company
  • Applying to become a Director or PSC

Your identification number is issued once and can be used for any UK company where you hold a Director or PSC role.

What happens if Paramount are not able to verify my identity?

Several factors may prevent successful verification by SmartSearch, including:

  • Suspected document forgery
  • Adverse media found linked to your identity or identification as a PEP (Politically Exposed Person)
  • Excessive or unacceptable document submissions
